Some benefits of Group Lessons

- Social interaction and camaraderie
- Exercises mind, body and spirit
- Develops key musical principals of timing, dynamics, improvisation and listening.
- Great way to experience playing in a group without having to spend years practicing!
- Easy techniques to learn, so you get going straight away.
In the lessons we use a variety of hand drums and percussion. Including Djembes, Bougarabous, Djun Djuns, Asikos, Goumbes and a number of bells and shakers. However, we can try using anything that makes a good sound, junk, body percussion etc.
The sessions can be based on a specific theme, such as a region in the world where we might learn some set piece, or can be a facilitated spontaneous creation.
We currently run group sessions at a number of schools including, St Paul's (Chippenham) Walter Powell (Great Somerford) and Christchurch (Bradford on Avon) these are only open to pupils at the schools.
An open class is held every Tuesday at:
The Cause Music & Arts Centre, The Causeway, Chippenham, SN15 3DD
This is run on a six week basis, during this time we will focus on a particular theme or piece. It is open to all ages (11+) and levels of ability. Drums are freely available on request (depending on availability)
